Sophie is a person-centred neuroaffirming practitioner who tailors individualised interventions to meet each client where they are at.
She enjoys working with clients from a range of backgrounds and strives to create a relaxed, non-judgmental space to explore the goals of each individual client. She enjoys helping clients understand themselves more, and supports them to make positive change in their lives.
Sophie has a particular interest in helping neurodivergent clients (including late diagnosed, self diagnosed or undiagnosed ND clients) make sense of their life experiences and help them to move forward in a hopeful and self-compassionate way. This can include unpacking past and current mental health struggles, relationship issues, trauma and health issues. She is also passionate about helping clients explore how neurodivergence may be impacting relationships, work, parenting and family dynamics. Sophie does not offer ADHD or Autism assessments but can help clients explore if a formal assessment may be appropriate.
Sophie has previously worked in a perinatal mental health service and is passionate about supporting all parents experiencing adjustment and mental health challenges in pregnancy and the early years of parenting. Sophie offers parenting support for parents of young children, however does not work with children. Babies are very welcome in sessions if clients are comfortable with this.
Sophie has also worked providing EAP counselling to clients experiencing a range of challenges such as workplace stress, relationship issues and life adjustments.
Sophie predominantly works from a Schema Therapy framework but also draws upon a variety of tools from other evidence-based interventions that are both neuroaffirming and trauma informed. When working with perinatal clients she uses attachment theory to inform her practice.
