Benjamin Diamond

Clinical Psychologist
Ben is a thoughtful and caring clinician with a collaborative, person-centred approach. He believes in working together with his clients to help them better understand themselves and their lives, so that they can experience positive, long-term change. Ben has experience working with a broad range of individuals, and is especially passionate about adult mental health, couples therapy, and perinatal mental health.

Ben believes in the importance of balancing long-term change and growth with increasing emotion regulation and coping capacities. At times you may want to develop skills to help ease your immediate discomfort, and at other times you may want support in shifting your relationship with yourself, others, and the life you lead. Ben will work with you to help you discover your needs, and create a space in which you can learn to have your needs met.

In Couples Therapy, Ben helps couples understand and navigate attachment disruptions—when a once-safe partner feels out of reach. Using an Emotionally Focused Therapy approach, he guides partners in recognizing their needs and rebuilding connection, so both feel heard, valued, and secure.

Ben works with adults across a wide range of areas, including but not limited to:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Couples Therapy
  • PTSD (Complex and single-event)
  • Perinatal and Infant Mental Health (PIMH)
  • Adjustment and transitions
  • Interpersonal challenges
  • Grief and loss
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Prolonged stress
  • Anger management

Ben uses a range of evidence-based approaches, including but not limited to:

  • Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT)
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
  • Interpersonal Therapy (IPT)
  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Ben’s therapeutic work is informed by psychodynamic, attachment, relational, developmental, humanistic, and existential theory.

Ben earned his Master of Psychology (Clinical) from Edith Cowan University. He trained at the Pregnancy to Parenthood Clinic, where he supported expecting and new parents and helped them navigate the joys and challenges of early parenthood. Ben also trained at the Department of Child Protection and Family Support (CPFS), supporting individuals affected by complex trauma, and later worked with Veterans across Australia, providing mindfulness-based psychological care.

Ben runs his own independent practice and engages Clear Health Psychology to provide administrative and other business services to enable him to provide treatment to his clients.
