Rick Underwood

Rick Underwood is a Registered Psychologist who went to university after a 20 year career in the Australian Navy.
He started work as a psychologist in the prison system, where he gained experience in treating depression, anxiety, trauma – both recent and from childhood as well as, assessing clients at risk of self-harm and contributing to their management plan.

Rick has worked with a wide variety of clients including; indigenous people, military veterans, and clients with mental health diagnosis such as; depression and anxiety.

In addition, Rick became a trained facilitator of therapeutic and psycho-educational group programs, including being an accredited facilitator of the Gatekeeper suicide awareness program. He also has worked with men who have had anger issues and those who have sexually offended and helped them with plans to keep themselves and others safe.

Rick is committed to helping people to have full and healthy lives within their means. He utilises CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Solution Focused Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for trauma.

Rick works with adolescents aged 14 + and adults.
