Poonam Morar

Poonam obtained her Psychology qualification through Curtin University of Technology and has worked over several years in government organisations and private practice using an evidenced-based, client-centred approach. She has worked with corrective services as a Registered Psychologist running group programs, assessment, and counselling services.

Poonam is experienced in working with adults and couples in the areas of:

• Anxiety
• Depression
• Complex trauma
• Post-natal depression
• Grief and loss
• Couples counselling
• PTSD
• Sexual abuse
• Substance and/or alcohol abuse
• Stress management
• Anger management

Poonam believes in providing a holistic approach to a client’s well-being. She provides her clients the necessary skills and support until they become self-sufficient. She has been trained in several evidence-based therapeutic techniques including, but not limited to:

• Gottman’s Therapy (for couples)
• Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (for anxiety, trauma, PTSD, grief)
• Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
• Narrative Therapy
• Act Commitment Therapy
• Solution Focused Therapy

Poonam believes every client is different and tailors her approach to that which best suits the client’s needs. She believes in providing a safe therapeutic environment where clients can express their concerns without fear of judgement. Poonam helps clients understand their triggers, create self-awareness, and provide them with skills to improve their wellbeing. Poonam is fluent in both English and Gujarati.
