Clinical Experience and Background
Debra obtained her undergraduate degree at Curtin University and worked as a registered psychologist from 2010. She then completed a Doctor of Psychology (Clinical and Forensic) at Edith Cowan University in 2020. She has worked in the private and public sectors and has experience working with couples, families, adolescents, children, and adults.
Her career started in Human Resources working within the private and government sectors. This experience is supported by a Master of Applied Psychology (Organisational). Her experience working in organisations means she understands and can assist with coping with office politics, the challenges of work-related stress, interpersonal issues at work, and career transitions.
Debra has experience working with couples and families in crises, this area of interest is supported by a Graduate Diploma of Relationship Counselling. Debra has experience working with adults and children who have experienced childhood trauma (e.g., sexual abuse, violence) gained from her work in the private sector and experience working with adolescents gained from her time working with young offenders.
Debra has a non-judgemental honest approach to counselling. Drawing from a systemic approach and using evidence-based approaches (e.g., Interpersonal Process, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing) she enjoys working collaboratively with clients.
