Clinical Psychologist
Ben is a thoughtful and caring clinician with a collaborative, person-centred approach. He believes in working together with his clients to help them better understand themselves and their lives, so that they can experience positive, long-term change. While Ben has experience working with a broad range of individuals, he is especially passionate about adult mental health, perinatal mental health, and older adult mental health.

Ben uses a range of evidence-based approaches, including but not limited to: Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Ben’s therapeutic work is informed by psychodynamic, attachment, relational, developmental, existential, and humanistic theory.

Ben believes in the importance of balancing long-term change and growth with increasing emotion regulation and coping capacities. At times you may want to develop skills to help ease your immediate discomfort, and at other times you may want support in shifting your relationship with yourself, others, and the life you lead. Ben will work with you to help you discover your needs, and create a space in which you can learn to have your needs met.

Ben works with adults across a wide range of difficulties, including but not limited to:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Trauma
  • Perinatal and Infant Mental Health (PIMH)
  • Adjustment and transitions
  • Interpersonal challenges
  • Relationship issues
  • Grief and loss
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Prolonged stress
  • Anger management

Ben achieved his Master of Psychology (Clinical) degree at Edith Cowan University. Ben completed placement at the Pregnancy to Parenthood Clinic, where he provided therapeutic support to expecting parents and those with newborns and helped them to feel prepared for the amazing, yet often exceptionally challenging, experience of becoming a parent. Ben also completed placement at The Department of Child Protection and Family Support (CPFS) where he provided therapeutic and consulting support to those impacted by long-term, intrusive complex trauma.

When not working in private practice, Ben provides psychological, mindfulness-based support to Veterans across Australia, through the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.

Ben runs his own independent practice and engages Clear Health Psychology to provide administrative and other business services to enable him to provide assessment and treatment to his clients.
