Amanda Maynard

Amanda is a registered Counselling Psychologist with AHPRA. She is experienced in working with adolescents and adults dealing with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, grief and loss, relationship issues, and life transitions such as first-time motherhood/parenthood.
Amanda focuses on creating a safe space where the client feels able to explore and make sense of their internal world and with new understanding create change in their life. She views therapeutic work as a partnership with the client, each working together to facilitate the client realising their goals.

Amanda has been trained in several evidence based therapeutic techniques including: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Mode Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT); Existential Therapy; Brain Based Therapy and Relaxation and Mindfulness practices.

Amanda obtained her Masters of Psychology (Counselling) through Curtin University of Technology. Amanda has worked in private practice for a number of years and prior that worked in community organisations for over ten years.

Over the course of her working history Amanda written and co-facilitated group programs for young people navigating their way through grief and loss, and for young people and their primary carers experiencing attachment disruption. She has provided therapy to individuals and couples primarily coming from an attachment framework. Amanda has worked with a diverse client population in a variety of settings and recognises how unique each client is, her priority is getting to know the client, meeting them where they are at and drawing on models that are an appropriate therapeutic fit for each client.

Amanda runs her own independent practice and engages Clear Health Psychology to provide administrative and other business services to enable her to provide assessment and treatment to her clients. Appointments are for 51 minutes at a rate of $195 and can attract a Medicare rebate with a Mental Health Care Plan.
Appointments are precious and we appreciate you giving at least 24 hours notice if you can’t attend, otherwise 50% of the full fee will apply with no Medicare rebate.
