Senior Psychologist

Donna Stambulich is a Registered Psychologist with AHPRA and the Director of Clear Health Psychology Currambine. Donna has over 10 years of clinical experience in the treatment of alcohol and other substance abuse and misuse disorders, comorbidity, trauma and general psychological disorders including anxiety, depression and self-harming behaviours. Other areas of interest include Workplace Mental Health, Screen Addiction, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, attachment and the treatment of emotional distress resulting from grief.

Donna’s therapeutic approach is to provide a supportive and non-judgemental atmosphere in which people can feel safe to explore the nature and meaning of their present difficulties, and so find effective ways to resolve them.

Donna utilises clinically proven and evidence-based therapies. Different treatment approaches are used to best suit the client(s) and their goals. The type of treatment provided can range from brief, focused treatment for acute symptoms or problems, to more long-term therapy for entrenched personality, relationship or coping issues. Therapies include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Skills, Schema Therapy and NA/AA 12 step work.

Clinical Experience and Background

Donna has worked in specialist residential alcohol and other drug addiction treatment centre since 2004 as a Clinical Program Co-ordinator. She has recently completed a study into Vicarious Trauma Among Clinicians. Donna is also a published academic in the area of Second Families, Child Support and the Family Court System. She is also a mother of two young children and gives back to her community in a variety of settings, sitting on several Boards and Steering Committees.

Dr Elinor van Ommen is a Clinical Psychologist known for her holistic approach to psychological wellbeing. Elinor’s therapeutic focus is to understand the whole person, not just a collection of symptoms, and to help people identify and transcend unhelpful patterns that keep them feeling ‘stuck’. Elinor draws on a number of evidence-based therapies to tailor therapy to the needs and strengths of each client. Therapies include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-based therapies, Schema Therapy, Psychodynamic principles, Solution Focused Therapy, Compassion-based approaches.

Elinor works with adolescents, adults, and older adults experiencing: Depression, Anxiety, Trauma (PTSD), Perfectionism, Grief and Loss, Relationship concerns, including couples counselling, Self-esteem concerns, Personal growth, Stress and burnout and Loss of meaning.

Clinical Experience and Background

Elinor has many years’ experience working in specialist mental health clinics in both Melbourne and Perth, conducting individual and group therapy with inpatient and outpatient groups. She also has experience in educational settings and aged care. Elinor combines the professional expertise of her clinical training with her warmth and compassion to facilitate a safe space for understanding, change and growth.

Elinor’s qualifications include Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology), Bachelor of Applied Science (Psychology)(Honours), and Doctor of Psychology (Clinical Psychology).

Elinor is also a board-approved Clinical supervisor, a member of the Australian Psychological Society and a Fellow of the College of Clinical Psychologists.

Malcolm is a versatile and dynamic therapist whose approach is grounded in humour, compassion and genuineness. He understands that the idea of therapy can stir up all kinds of thoughts (worries) and feelings and seeks to help clients overcome this through his down to earth and personable style.

Malcolm’s approach to therapy is based on one central idea … “the whole point of seeing a psychologist is for things to change”. Changes that are for the better and changes that last. In reality, this is much easier said than done, but this is just a fact and not an obstacle. Malcolm works to build and nurture each client’s confidence in themselves and their ability to achieve their therapeutic goals.

Malcolm will introduce you to new ideas and perspectives about yourself, relationships and life and will actively challenge what you think, believe and hold to be true. His experience includes working with all client groups – families, couples, individuals, adolescents and children.

Malcolm has been a practising psychologist and Member of the Australian Psychological Society for over 20 years. He has extensive experience working in the WA prison system, in addition to his work in programs for the homeless, worker’s compensation/rehabilitation, domestic violence and youth outreach.

Malcolm utilises empirically validated treatment approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MCBT). He also draws on Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Existential Therapy and Provocative Therapy as well as incorporating knowledge and ideas from the fields of biology, neuroscience and philosophy. Malcolm has also recently completed training in Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR).

Malcolm is also skilled in providing professional clinical supervision to psychologists of varying levels of experience.

Michelle is an experienced Psychologist who is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia. She works with clients of varying ages including adults, adolescents and children. Her areas of experience and interest include trauma, phobias, anxiety, panic disorder, separation anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, work-related problems, parenting challenges, adjustment to chronic illness, grief and low self-esteem.

Michelle utilises effective psychological treatments which include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative and Solution Focussed Brief Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). Michelle will tailor therapy to each person’s unique needs.

Michelle first began working in mental health 17 years ago and has been a registered psychologist for the past 13 years. She has worked in a variety of roles which include specialised trauma services (including war-related trauma), community mental health, vocational rehabilitation, child protection and private practice. She is passionate about working in partnership with clients and creating meaningful change for better psychological health.

Michaela Kozak (Mitch) is a Registered Psychologist who provides evidence-based psychological interventions and assessment services to adults and adolescents. Mitch possesses over 20 years of experience within the therapeutic interventions space and enhancing the well-being of individuals, couples and families with a range of presenting issues including anxiety, mood, trauma, personal development, grief and loss, adjustment to pain and injury, workplace concerns, career transition and life stages, relationships and self-esteem.

Mitch's caring, warm and empathetic approach enables clients to feel at ease and is enthusiastic about transforming client's lives through personal growth, guiding them through a crisis and improving their mental health well-being.

Mitch has been a registered psychologist for 12 years, working within the employment, disabilities and injury management, employee assistance programs, critical incident responses and mental health fields providing evidence-based interventions.

Jenna is a registered psychologist who is passionate about the role psychology can play in helping people bring about positive change and improve their social and emotional wellbeing.

Jenna works with children, adolescents and adults in a variety of settings. She supports clients dealing with a range of areas of difficulty such as (but not limited to) anxiety, depression, sleep, PTSD, OCD, worry, self-harm, stress, relationship issues and self-esteem /confidence issues. Jenna is available to conduct Cognitive, Intelligence and ADHD testing for children and adults. She utilises a range of evidence-based strategies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Emotion Focussed Therapy (EFT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT).

Jenna has a Master’s in Health Psychology and Clinical Psychology. Jenna tailors her approach to therapy based on the individual circumstances of her client and their presenting issue. In all aspects of the therapeutic relationship, Jenna emphasises a non-judgmental, collaborative and goal-orientated process, in which her clients feel understood, heard, respected and supported assisting them to establish an optimistic outlook for the future.

Laura is a registered psychologist with 20 years of clinical experience in the treatment of general and specific mental health disorders. She believes people can achieve success and positive outcomes through the process of therapy and helping them to engage with their positive supports/activities.

Laura will work with people using a non-judgemental, empathic and supportive approach in her counselling, whilst helping them to achieve their goals. Laura has extensive experience working with people who have mental health disorders including depression, anxiety, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorders, grief and trauma, attachment, bipolar disorder and personality disorders, people at risk of offending, drug and alcohol misuse and self-harm.

She uses evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution Focussed Therapy and Mindfulness to help people achieve their goals and achieve positive wellbeing. Laura is trained in the Triple P parenting programme and the Circle of Security attachment parenting programme.

Laura also helps people to overcome their low self-esteem issues and to manage their stress, grief and loss. She works with individuals and their families who live with a disability, to help them to have a positive life and to reduce any challenging issues.

Clinical Experience and Background

Laura has worked in mental health organisations including Joondalup Community Mental Health and Injury Management organisations providing assessments, counselling, and support. Laura worked in London for just under 4 years as a psychologist for the social services organisation, Children’s Direct Services. She worked with people who had disabilities and provided counselling to people and their families who lived with a life-threatening illness.

On returning to Perth she then worked at the Autism Association of W.A on the clinical team for 5 years, at the Disability Services Commission for 4 years as a Team Leader and Senior Psychologist. Laura provides talks in the community about managing stress and trauma, about supporting people who have a disability or mental health condition using positive behaviour support strategies. She has an interest in working with adults and children who have an Autism Spectrum Condition.

Laura has completed a Bachelor of Science (Psychology) at Curtin University achieved in 1997, Post Grad Diploma of Psychology (Advanced Specialisation in Rehabilitation Counselling) achieved in 1998.

Gemma is a Clinical Psychologist (Registrar) with AHPRA. She takes a person-centred, trauma-informed and holistic approach to provide therapy to children, adolescents and adults. Gemma works collaboratively with clients not only to relieve their current symptoms of distress but also to develop insight into their dysfunctional patterns of thinking and behaviour. Gemma’s particular areas of interest include Emotional and behavioural difficulties, Emotional regulation difficulties, Parenting struggles, Sleeping difficulties, Interpersonal and relationship problems, Perinatal and Infant Mental Health, Bonding and attachment difficulties, Developmental trauma, Depression, anxiety and panic attacks, and Disability support, particularly ASD.

Gemma draws from a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including (but not limited to): Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Family Systems Therapy, Play Therapy, Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).

Clinical Experience and Background

Gemma completed her Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree at the University of Western Australia, and her Master of Psychology (Clinical) degree at Edith Cowan University. Through her work, Gemma has developed a special interest in working with children living with a disability and/or developmental trauma.

Gemma has thrived in her previous roles as a psychologist in perinatal infant mental health and in child protection settings, providing psychological support to vulnerable children and youth from diverse cultural backgrounds and providing psychoeducation to carers and at-risk parents.

Gemma has six years of experience working with adults and children in the disability field, including those that exhibit multiple complex behaviours of concern. Her expertise and passion for working in this field were recognised at the Disability Support Awards in 2019 when she was announced as a finalist for the Home and Family Support Award. It was through her longstanding and successful live-in support role that Gemma developed a passion for empowering and supporting others to achieve their goals and enhance their quality of life.

Gerrit Willemse is a Psychologist fully registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and is a registered Medicare Provider. Gerrit is fluent in both English and Afrikaans.

Gerrit is passionate about providing excellent service to his clients, including children from the ages of 12 upwards, teenagers, young adults/students in their 20’s, older adults, families and seniors with an array of issues. These include anxiety/stress reduction, depression, suicidal tendencies, trauma (including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder - PTSD), OCD, parenting challenging behaviours, ADHD, Oppositional-Defiant behaviours, Tourette’s Disorder, and Borderline Personality Disorder. Over the years he had excellent results with many of his clients.

Gerrit Willemse has over 30 years’ experience working in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. This incorporated mental health services, child protection work, the education sector and private practice settings.

Gerrit is trained to use a wide variety of therapies to help his clients to become fully functional and flourish. Such as Positive Psychotherapy, CBT, ACT, Relaxation, Mindfulness, Hypnotherapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Attachment-Based Therapy, and many more depending on the needs of his clients. Gerrit says “I’m here to do the best for each of my clients and as long as they are willing to engage in therapy, I’ll do my best to serve them”.
