Valentina Ukich is a Registered Psychologist with AHPRA and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).
Valentina is experienced in working with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families in the areas of anxiety, depression and mood disorders, fertility, pregnancy and parenting, sexual identity, relationship, marital and family (working with individuals, couples and/or family groups), drug, alcohol and other dependencies, grief, trauma and loss, workplace issues, work/life balance, stress, health and lifestyle.
She has been trained in several evidence based therapeutic techniques including CBT, interpersonal therapy, solution focused brief therapy, family systems therapy, narrative and mindfulness approaches. She tailors counselling to the personality and needs of the client in a non-judgmental and supportive way.
Clinical experience and background
Valentina obtained her Psychology qualification through Curtin University of Technology and has over 15 years of experience working with people in various Community Based organisations and for the last 7 years in Private Practice working with children, adults, couples and families. Coming from a former Yugoslav background she is particularly tuned to the role of culture in communication and relationships and uses this in the therapy space to explore personal values and beliefs systems. Her personal style is towards collaborative approaches that inspire curiosity, hope and empower change.
Valentina is also fluent in Croatian, Serbian & Bosnian languages.
