Poonam Morar is a Registered Psychologist with AHPRA and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).
Poonam is experienced in working with adults and couples in the areas of anxiety, depression, complex trauma, post-natal depression, parenting issues, grief and loss, couples counselling, PTSD, sexual abuse, substance and/or alcohol abuse, stress management and anger management. Poonam believes in providing a holistic approach to a client’s well-being. She provides her clients the necessary skills and support until they become self-sufficient.
She has been trained in several evidence based therapeutic techniques including Gottman’s Therapy (for couples), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (for anxiety, trauma, PTSD, grief), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Act Commitment Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and many more.
Clinical experience and background
Poonam obtained her Psychology qualification through Curtin University of Technology and has worked over several years in government organisations and private practice using an evidenced based, client centred approach. She has worked with corrective services as a Registered Psychologist running group programs, assessment and counselling services. Poonam believes every client is different and tailors her approach to that which best suits the client’s needs. She believes in providing a safe therapeutic environment where clients are able to express their concerns without fear of judgement. Poonam helps clients understand their triggers, create self-awareness and provide them with skills to improve their wellbeing. Poonam is fluent in both English and Gujarati.
