Clinical Psychologist

Janet Gallagher is a Clinical Psychologist registered with AHPRA.

Janet works from a strength-based perspective, working alongside individuals, couples and families to achieve their goals and work towards wellbeing. Janet is experienced in working with children and adolescents, the areas of anxiety, depression, challenging behaviours, self-esteem, bonding and attachment difficulty, trauma and abuse, post-traumatic stress, parental separation and divorce. With adults, in working with depression and anxiety, personality disorders, parenting support (PPP, Circle of security, attachment parenting), trauma and abuse and adjusting to life change.

She has been trained in several evidence based therapeutic techniques including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma Focused CBT, Schema Therapy and many other Psychotherapy models.

Clinical experience and background

Janet obtained her Honours in Psychology with Human Resource Management at Middlesex University in the UK and Masters in Clinical Psychology at Edith Cowan University. Janet has a number of years’ experience working in private practice and in children and family services. Whilst most of Janet’s experience has been working with at risk children and families, focusing on childhood trauma and abuse, Janet also has experience working in many other fields of psychology across the lifespan. Janet continues to be involved in research that is involved with Children in Out of Home Care, specifically kinship care.
