Karina is a registered Clinical Psychologist with AHPRA, and a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and the Australian Clinical Psychologists Association (ACPA).
Karina is experienced with treating adolescents and adults of all ages, including older adults. Karina’s therapeutic style is client-led, holistic and compassionate. She believes in treating the whole person; understanding and appreciating the complexity of humans, their relationships, personality structure, and the impact of life events.
Karina uses an evidence-based, integrated approach to therapy. She has completed training in psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness, Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT). Karina believes in the role of the ‘therapeutic alliance’ in healing, and works with clients to relieve present symptoms of distress as well as helping clients gain insight into patterns of behaviour and how these develop.
Clinical Experience and Background
Karina completed her Honours and Masters Degree in Applied Clinical Psychology at Murdoch University. She has over 13 years experience in the Health and Education sectors, most recently in Clinical Psychology. Karina has worked in both in- and outpatient public health settings, as well as private practice and has developed strong clinical diagnostic skills. Karina has worked in research and education, contributing towards research in ‘positive psychology’, including the benefits of extracurricular activity participation to wellbeing for adolescents in Perth.
Karina offers therapy for a broad range of psychological and emotional issues, with a special interest in life-stage and identity issues. Karina has experience treating depression, anxiety, panic, worry and stress, adjustment, coping with chronic illness, pain management, emotional regulation, trauma, and interpersonal problems. Karina is warm and empathetic and would love to help you develop mental wellbeing and foster your self-discovery.
