Andrew Meyer is a Registered Psychologist who is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).

Andrew is experienced in working with adolescents and adults in the areas of depression, anxiety, and stress related issues, addictions (substances, gambling and alcohol), grief and loss, self-esteem, confidence building, sexuality and relationship difficulties.

He has been trained in several evidence based therapeutic techniques including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing and Narrative Therapy. Andrew works with a strengths-based approach and helps consolidate clients build upon and improve areas such as communication, conflict resolution, anger management and relationship issues. Andrew believes that creating positive client relationships, rapport and trust are the key to a safe and effective therapeutic journey for his clients.

Clinical experience and background

Andrew obtained his Psychology qualification through Curtin University of Technology. He has experience working in private practice and a background as a Registered Psychologist with corrective services running offender focused rehabilitation programs both within the prison context and within the community, to co-facilitate in psycho-educational, emotion-focused and therapeutic and rehabilitation-based programs.

His approach to therapy is to create curiosity, openness and motivation with his clients. Andrew believes these components are highly effective in reaching treatment goals and helping people to return to their desired self. Andrew’s aim is to treat everyone he works with, with respect, dignity and in a non-judgmental way. He has a wide range of experience working primarily with adult and adolescent clients with a broad range of presenting issues.
